Biblical Discipleship course
THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING
A 26-Lesson Discipleship Course for Deep Spiritual Formation
Course Introduction
Following Jesus is more than believing the right things. It is a lifelong journey of becoming more like Christ.
The Journey of Becoming is a 26-lesson discipleship course designed to move beyond information and into transformation. It is built around the biblical call to follow Jesus, know Him deeply, be transformed by His Spirit, live faithfully, and make disciples of others.
This course begins with the foundation: Who is Jesus, and what does it really mean to follow Him? From there, it takes you through prayer, Scripture, worship, hearing God's voice, community, spiritual disciplines, overcoming sin, forgiveness, spiritual warfare, the fruit of the Spirit, spiritual gifts, vocation, generosity, suffering, maturity, and ultimately the Great Commission.
The goal is not simply to finish 26 lessons. The goal is to allow God's Word and the Holy Spirit to examine your life, reshape your thinking, transform your character, deepen your relationship with God, and teach you to live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.
Five Movements of the Journey
1. Foundations of Faith — Lessons 1–6
Discover who Jesus is, what it means to follow Him, the cost of discipleship, the new birth, assurance of salvation, and your new identity in Christ.
2. Deepening Your Relationship With God — Lessons 7–12
Develop a deeper life of prayer, Scripture, worship, spiritual discernment, fasting, simplicity, and Christian community.
3. Personal Transformation — Lessons 13–18
Explore sanctification, dealing with sin and temptation, forgiveness, spiritual warfare, and the development of the fruit of the Spirit.
4. Living Out Your Calling — Lessons 19–23
Discover your spiritual gifts, integrate faith with your vocation, disciple others, live counterculturally, and practice biblical generosity and stewardship.
5. Endurance & Maturity — Lessons 24–26
Learn how God uses suffering to develop perseverance, pursue spiritual maturity, and embrace the Great Commission to go and make disciples.
How the Course Works
The course can be used in several different ways:
-
One-on-one discipleship
-
Small-group Bible studies
-
Church classes
-
Mentoring relationships
-
Personal spiritual formation
-
Sermon or teaching series
Each lesson combines biblical teaching, Scripture, reflection questions, practical application, and spiritual practices. The questions are designed not merely to test what you know, but to help you examine how God's truth intersects with your actual life.
Come with questions. Come ready to think. Come ready to wrestle with difficult truths. Come ready to examine your assumptions.
Most importantly, come ready to follow Jesus.
This Is a Journey, Not a Graduation
Discipleship does not end when the final lesson is completed.
Jesus' invitation remains the same:
"Follow me."
As you grow, you are called to help others grow. As you have been discipled, you are called to disciple others. What God pours into you is meant to flow through you.
The ultimate goal is therefore multiplication: disciples who become disciple-makers.
This course is an invitation to go deeper—to move from simply knowing about Christ to knowing Christ, becoming like Christ, and making Christ known.
This is the journey.
This is the calling.
This is discipleship.
This is the Journey of Becoming.
